Only five years ago, barely anyone had a Facebook business page – and if they did, few knew what on earth to do with it! Facebook was still just a place to hang out with your mates and catch up with kittens and cute kids. Fast forward to today and the beauty of Facebook is that small businesses are on a level playing field with the big guys.
We can reach our target audience just as easily as the multi-nationals can.
And that is jolly powerful! But beware, in five years’ time I believe you will no doubt marvel at how, back in the day, you could open up a free Facebook business page and spend NOTHING on marketing! You will reminisce about how you could start interacting with potential patients as easily as strolling around your local pub and chatting with people over a beer.
There’s a lot of nonsense talked by people who assert that social media isn’t necessary to build a thriving business, This may be because they barely understand how to harness it themselves. Believe me – it is a powerful asset to your Osteobiz. If you are not getting in on the action right now, it’s likely that you will look back and realise that you missed out on an important innovation.
In my experience, too many small business owners procrastinate over taking any kind of strategic action to improve their online profile. I think they will inevitably become a small pile of dinosaur bones…
Statistics usually bore me but let’s have a peek at some now just for fun
- There are 1.86 billion active users on Facebook
- 66% of those rock up on Facebook every single day via their mobile to see what’s going on
- A stunning 1.15 billion log on every day
- Facebook Like and Share buttons are on 10 million websites and Facebook track information from those buttons so they know who has visited those pages whether or not they are logged in to Facebook at that time!
- Therefore Facebook has incredible and detailed data about your potential patients
- Five new profiles are opened on Facebook every second
- There are 4 Million Likes pressed on posts every minute of every day
- Did you know that 50% of all youngsters aged between 18-24 years old visit Facebook immediately upon waking up?!
That’s pretty incredible – right?
Now you may not particularly like the fact that our online activity is constantly being tracked! But it is our reality whether we like it or not. Indeed on my advanced courses, I even teach how to track all website visitors back to Facebook even if we are not connected to them otherwise!
The technical revolution of which we are all a part of is going to make the industrial revolution look more like a tea party. We are in a dramatic period of change and we stay stuck in the past at our peril.
So if you’re not using Facebook to attract and nurture new patients and maintain relationships with previous patients you are missing a FREE and highly effective trick! Indeed social media marketing is at the core of everything I teach and my Clients seize the baton and rapidly grow their patient numbers!
I predict that in the near future we will have to PAY to use a Facebook business page!
With the amount of new businesses signing up for a Facebook business page and the phenomenal power of the data gathered by their systems, it is likely that they will very soon want to monetise their service to businesses even further. Why? Because primarily they want to protect the experience of their users. None of us want to be bombarded with business posts selling at us constantly. We don’t want to spin our news feeds to fight through all the biz posts and Ads to find out what our mates are doing!
Ultimately this is social media and Facebook will want to balance the content being put in front of their users. Their ever-changing algorithm is set to do exactly this and ensure the public are motivated to stay on Facebook rather than migrate to other social media platforms. And hence why Facebook bought Instagram and wiped out the threat it posed to them.
Times continue to change rapidly and if you think you might be a little bit behind now, leave it a few months and you may well feel completely discombobulated! Please don’t get left behind – you know where I am if you need me.
