In my free ebook (www.osteobiz.com) I suggest 19 great ideas for attracting new Patients. Most of them are free or cost very little to implement.
I often receive replies from you saying how great these ideas are and I’m always grateful for your feedback and the opportunity to connect.
Recently, I heard from the lovely Tenterden Osteopath Bill Ferguson with a very relevant and important tip to add, which I wanted to share with you.
Bill said, “Pretend to be your patient occasionally; undress in their space, lie on the couch and describe how you feel. Did you feel safe, comfortable? How is the view, any cobwebs on the ceiling? Are you warm enough? How about privacy, can everyone on the upstairs of the bus see you? Etc”
I think that this is an excellent tip to try out as, sometimes with a busy Patient list, it’s possible to forget just how it can feel to be the Patient.
And then think about this – what information would be ideal for you to take away after an appointment? Putting yourself in the position of the Patient, what advice would be useful to you?
Indeed, do you find that you often get a great deal of very similar problems walking (or hobbling!) into your Clinic?
If you are marketing effectively to your Perfect Patient, which I always advocate that you do, then you should have a greater percentage of a particular type of Patient. It may be that you are gifted in addressing the common ailments of infants. Or you may like to prevent office workers from suffering unnecessarily from ergonomically poor desk arrangements. Perhaps you even love to treat the mechanics of car mechanics!
Whichever group you tend to attract most of, think about creating a general information leaflet about how they might help themselves. Do they tend to make poor choices in some way which you could address? Or could they better help themselves by doing certain exercises or particular stretches?
Giving clear advice in a simple format will help them to keep in better shape. But much more than that, it will further promote you as an expert in your chosen specialism.
And that further adds to the Patient experience in your Clinic.
