When a Practitioner asks me for help, they’re often feeling frustrated, stuck and have run out of ideas. Interestingly, they will often all have similar experiences as they begin their journey to success.
Deciding to change
Most are utterly fed up with not treating enough patients each week. Or perhaps they are feeling stressed by their drastically fluctuating income. Finding the status quo dull, they begin to imagine offering a better service to their community. They have come to the point of understanding that changes need to be made in all aspects of their Practice. But they can find the enormity of this challenging and overwhelming. They know that changes need to be made in the way they are running their Osteobiz but they don’t quite know where to start.
Mindset issues
Frequently, these Practitioners have become disillusioned with their situation. Perhaps they’ve lost confidence in themselves or their abilities. Generally I can identify that this is nothing more than a vexatious gremlin sitting mischievously on their shoulder. He continually browbeats them with negative whispers about their competency, their abilities, their knowledge and even their diagnostic skills. He scares them with thoughts of being TOO busy, not coping and all the ‘what ifs’ he can throw at them. But faced with my big ol’ boots, he is soon kicked into touch! Underneath we discover a caring, conscientious, highly skilled and compassionate Osteopath who is soon back on track and prospering.
Harnessing determination
Because they’ve committed to investing in up to six months of my time and attention on their development and success, these Practitioners become highly focused. They are determined to create the thriving Clinic they deserve. They know I’m holding them accountable to take the baby steps we’ve agreed on that week. Often new Clients have joked that just by taking that first step and committing to working with me, new patients will arrive as if by magic! Such determination to succeed quickly pays off – just like putting our foot on the gas creates serious traction and quickly we shift forwards!
Before we know it, these Practitioners are spreading out the time between our consultations. They know what they are doing and they are following their bespoke plan. Implementing the strategies step by step, they can see the results in their diaries. At around 4-5 months working together, they are merely rinsing and repeating the plan. Soon they are far too busy to even talk to me!

I love to watch each wonderful individual grow, getting more focused and then flowering into the best Osteopath they can be. It’s exciting to hear about their rapid progress. And it’s great to know that they have connected with hundreds more local people, reducing their pain and helping them back to health.
Nurturing each Very Important Practitioner I work with is an honour. Indeed, to watch them fly confidently and see their Osteobiz flourishing is a thrill I never tire of.
