Are you selling yourself cheap?

Time for MoneyWith my Osteobiz Club well established and new members getting started on identifying where the issues are in their business right now, I’ve got quite excited about helping them.  Over on LinkedIn, I have an Osteobiz group for members only – no salesmen allowed!  Incredibly, there are already over 300 members who have joined up and started discussions.  There are Osteopaths in there from all over the world and I love that it’s a private space where business problems, ideas, job vacancies and advice can be mutually shared.  Get in touch if you’d like to join in.

Today one member said, “Ah, thank you Gilly. That is good advice, and very encouraging. I’m looking forward to seeing some old faces, and cherry picking the lovely ones to contact!  I like your Group. Nice work.”  To say I’m thrilled to be making a difference in the world of Osteopathy already is an understatement!

But I’ve had a shock which I didn’t expect.  I thought the main issue for an Osteopathy Practice would be getting enough bookings and properly filling the weekly diary.  However, I’ve been surprised to find that some of you are so booked up that you’re totally stressed out!  Some of you are working so hard that you’re even putting your own health in jeopardy. I didn’t see that one coming.  Are you selling yourself cheap and wearing yourself out?

RelaxActually, it seems to me that this is a great problem to have as the solutions are far easier to find.  The reason you are overbooked is that you are FANTASTIC at what you do.  You have so many fans and recommendations that you struggle to fit them in.  I bet they’re ringing you and begging to be squeezed in before you go home.

You already know that you can’t go on like this.  I’ll bet your family are complaining that they never see you.  I know that you’re getting so stressed with the pressure you feel under that you think you daren’t take any time off or you’ll drown.  The guilt you feel for ‘letting people down’ is immense.

If this is you, then STOP right now.  Take a look at what you want your business to look like and how you want that to integrate with your loved ones and social life.  Then take action!

When you’re selling ‘time for money’, you MUST make that a fair exchange.  There are lots of solutions to this problem but the most important one is to put up your prices immediately!  Your fans will not desert you and the rest you can recommend to a colleague in your locality or even hire an Associate to treat those who prefer to pay less.

After all, nobody ever took their last breath and wished that they had worked harder in this life…
