Well I don’t agree! Given that you have between 3-7 seconds to engage a person on your website before they zip off to the next option on their Google search, I think that the word Welcome is wasting time and not giving them any information.
Websites have grown up now and we don’t need to welcome anyone these days or make them jump through hoops to enter a site. They want to know if you can help them and they want to know NOW as succinctly as possible.
Have a quick look at your website now and see if you could use a more dramatic and purposeful headline. How about:
‘You’re in the right place for relief from sports injuries’
‘We gently ease joint pain’
‘Bring your unsettled babies to us for a soothing treatment’
Just make it focused – too generic and it won’t resonate with anyone in particular and you might as well keep Welcome!
Talking of bullseyes – my blog ‘To Close Down or Break Down‘ this week, taken from my article published in Osteopathy Today has caused quite a stir! I’ve had some valuable feedback including this from Dennis Wells in New Zealand about booking endless back to back appointments,
“We are supposed to be more holistic and thoughtful about what we do and what we recommend (practice what we preach) to our patients. I liked your thinking and your suggestions. Great stuff.”
It’s here if you missed it.
